Steffi Chan, MB,BS, M.Med

Hometown: Singapore
Undergraduate: National University of Singapore, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
Medical School: National University of Singapore, Master of Medicine (Anesthesiology)
Why I chose UCLA: I was looking for a center to further my training in liver transplant anesthesiology and UCLA's program is world-renowned. With its amazing case load and expertise in managing transplant candidates with one of the highest average MELD scores in the country, I was confident that I would be well-trained to care for critically ill patients. Also, I couldn't say no to a year of California sunshine!

Dr Steffi Chan was born in the US but grew up and completed her medical training in Singapore. Outside of work, she has an interest in grape juice and completed her WSET Level 3 in wines with distinction. She has too many hobbies including (in no particular order) running, pole dancing, diving, archery, fencing, cats, learning new languages, and traveling.

Yi Wei Tan, MBBS, MMed

Hometown: Singapore
Medical School: National University of Singapore School of Medicine, MBBS
Why I chose UCLA: The faculty here are truly inspiring, and have been nothing but welcoming and supportive. When it comes to liver transplants, UCLA is also hard to beat in terms of volume and case complexity.

Dr Yi Wei Tan is a Consultant in the National University Hospital back home in Singapore. While in California, Dr Tan plans to spend time with her family soaking up all that the Golden State has to offer. She has been enjoying the weather, Disneyland, the breathtaking national parks, Costco shopping and (a little too much) In-N-Out.
