Why I chose UCLA: I chose UCLA because I wanted to be exposed to a wide variety of pathology/sick patients so that I can be prepared for anything after residency. Doing so while having year-round sunshine as well as close proximity to beaches, hiking trails, and great food definitely sealed the deal.
Hobbies/Interests: Running, Weightlifting, Brewing espresso/pouring latte art, Trying out new restaurants, Playing piano, and Walking my coresidents' dogs until I can get one of my own.

Why I chose UCLA: After doing a Sub-I at UCLA it was clear this was where I wanted to come for residency. All of the residents and faculty were so welcoming and willing to teach. I knew residency was going to be tough, but I wanted to train in a place where I would get complex cases in a supportive environment. It was very apparent to me that the UCLA residents came out well-prepared and were sought after for jobs. I am very happy with my choice and would choose UCLA all over again.
Hobbies/Interests: I love spending time with my wife and dog. We love going to the beach and hiking whenever we get the chance. I love going to sports events (especially baseball) and trying all of the food L.A. has to offer. I also enjoy snowboarding, wakesurfing, and started rowing since being in Southern California.

Why I chose UCLA: My interview day at UCLA stood apart from the rest - the residents and attendings were exceptionally happy and collegial. I'm all about budgeting (a must for a family of 3 living on one salary), but wanted affordability while getting top notch training in perfect weather. UCLA checked those boxes and more.

Why I chose UCLA: The atmosphere on my interview day at UCLA felt different -- everybody seemed happier, from the faculty to the residents. There was a warmth (not just from the sun!) about this place that welcomed me. From its strong reputation and boundless opportunities, I felt like it was a place I could thrive. I haven't regretted my choice one bit!

Why I chose UCLA: UCLA is an excellent program to train in as most patients tend to be medically complex. Not only is the quality of teaching great, but there are also many non clinical opportunities to develop professionally (i.e. research, committees, quality improvement). We are also located on the west side of the city with many activities to take advantage of, including hiking, time at the beach, and spots to eat!
Hobbies/Interests: When I’m not working I like to explore different running routes, Walk on the beach, Try new hikes, and Learn how to make different salsa recipes!
