Advancing diagnosis and care for common and complex infections diseases through innovative research.
UCLA Division of Infectious Diseases
Infectious Diseases (ID) specialists are medical detectives. They are called upon by other physicians to help diagnose the most complex and elusive cases and to develop strategies to prevent and treat a wide range of diseases affecting all parts of the body.

How Can You Help

Patient Care
Our faculty members are engaged in diagnosing and treating patients with infections. We provide consultation services to help manage infections both in-patient and out-patient settings. We specialize in the care of general medical and surgical patients, departing or returning travelers, transplant and other immuno-compromised patients, and people infected with HIV.
Fellowship Program
We offer two training tracks. Our Academic Research track that provides fellows a longitudinal, mentored research training experience that will prepare them for careers as independently-funded investigators. Our Clinical Scholar track is a two-year program that is structured for fellows who aspire to more clinically-oriented careers in general and transplant infectious diseases, HIV medicine, viral hepatitis, public health, epidemiology, antibiotic stewardship, and infection control.
Research
The Division of Infectious Diseases faculty members have a wide variety of research interests and conduct research spanning basic science to clinical trials, in local, national, and international settings.
