Arriel Alvarez is a first year MS Epidemiology student at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She graduated from California State University of Fullerton with a Bachelor's degree in Public Health and minors in Chemistry and Biology in 2022. Her research experience was primarily involved in environmental health topics where she had participated in research labs and programs that were involved in analyzing air pollution exposure, climate change issues, and wastewater treatment outcomes. Her previous projects involved researching wildfire air pollution exposures and preterm and birth weight outcomes, which sparked her interest to pursue a career focusing on the effects of environmental exposures and maternal and child health outcomes. She aspires to continue to research this topic and pursue a PhD in epidemiology.
