Kyani Young (she/her) is a 2nd-year MPH student in the Community Health Sciences Department at UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health. In 2021, she obtained her B.S. in Biology with an Honors Minor in Interdisciplinary Studies on a pre-medical track. She is passionate about many public health topics including maternal and child health equity, health across the life course, racial health equity, disease prevention, and the social determinants of health. Upon graduation, she intends to pursue her MD/PhD and aid in health equity efforts both inside and outside of clinical settings by using these experiences to inform research, create community health programs, and advocate for policy change. She desires to work at the intersection of medicine and public health and find new ways to integrate public health practices with clinical care to incorporate a more holistic approach to disease treatment and prevention. In her free time, Kyani enjoys singing, learning music production, reading, and exploring new places with her family and friends.
