Lauren Rodriguez is a second-year student in the UCLA School of Nursing Master’s Entry Clinical Nursing program. Her primary interest is in Maternity. As a Care Extender at UCLA Ronald Reagan, she volunteered in the Postpartum Unit where she first became interested in Maternal Health. Now, her research focuses on maternal well-being and the societal expectations for pregnant and postpartum mothers. Before she went into the nursing field, Lauren received her undergraduate degree in Art History. She decided to pivot to nursing after completing the Getty Marrow Internship at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. She began working at LAC+USC Medical Center as an Administrative Assistant in the Echocardiogram, EEG, and Radiation Oncology Units. While there, she led a QI project with a Resident Radiation Oncology physician on reducing cycle times for diagnostic procedures. Since coming to UCLA, she has focused on Maternal Health and will be completing her immersion in the Labor and Delivery unit at UCLA Ronald Reagan. Her various interests span across patient education, public health, patient-centered care, and quality improvement.
