Welcome Letter
Dear Prospective Candidate,
The Pain Medicine program started in 2001 with one fellow. Since that time, the program expanded its complement to 4 fellows. We have been granted the maximum accreditation (5 years) status prior to the “next accreditation system” and since that time, continued to be fully accredited. Since 2005, the ACGME requires individuals who wish to board certified in the sub-specialty of Pain Medicine to complete a 12-month fellowship in Pain Medicine.
At this time, we received all our applications via ERAS. We usually conduct interviews between June and August of a resident's senior year. All interviews will be scheduled on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the year and staff’s availability. During the interview, the prospective fellow will have an opportunity to meet the participating instructors at UCLA and the WLA VA.
We usually receive well more than 100 applications and will offer 20-30 interviews. Applicants who will be granted interviews will be contacted by phone or email.
The UCLA/GLAWLAVA Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program for Pain Medicine is a great place to begin a career in Pain Medicine. We strive to train leaders in the field. The ACGME status, multidisciplinary staff, and national reputation of UCLA and the West La VA, give the program instant recognition for those seeking a strong training environment.
