UCLA Pathology & Laboratory Medicine

Advancing understandings in pathology through advanced cell biology and biochemistry research.

About UCLA Pathology

Pathology is the study of the nature of disease - it's cell biology and biochemistry. As a medical discipline, pathologists engage in patient care as consultants and innovators for biochemical, molecular, and cell biology tests that guide diagnostic and treatment choices. Through these roles, the UCLA Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine assists health professionals and patients in making optimal decisions based on the latest diagnostic studies, using state-of-the-art instrumentation. We integrate educational activities with our clinical service, and are active in clinical and translational research programs at UCLA.
