Medical Aid Initiative
The UCLA Health Medical Aid Initiative (MAI), formerly known as RENEW, began in 2003 as a means to bridge the health resources gap and reduce waste by donating unused medical supplies from UCLA Health to UCLA-affiliated global health missions. UCLA undergraduate volunteers through the MAI student group coordinate the organization and distribution of these supplies to UCLA-based volunteer groups and individuals traveling abroad to deliver health care to underserved communities.
If you are travelling abroad and wish to request supplies, please fill out the following form to request materials: MAI Supply Request Form. To request items, you must be affiliated with UCLA faculty, staff, and/or be a student. The organization receiving the supplies must be a non-profit organization. Please note, requests must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the date the supplies are needed, as it takes time for the request to be approved and processed. To view current supply inventory, please visit the inventory database.
Please contact UCLA Health International Services at [email protected] if you have any questions. You can learn more about the MAI student group by visiting their website here: MAI at UCLA
