About
Dr. Michael Garcia is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Clinical Nutrition. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Physician Nutrition Specialist.
Dr. Garcia’s primary areas of practice include malnutrition, intestinal failure, nutrition support, and using nutrition therapy for the prevention and treatment of cancer, gastrointestinal conditions, obesity, obesity-associated diseases, and metabolic conditions including diabetes, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease. He prioritizes individualized care for each patient in collaboration with primary care physicians and other specialists.
Dr. Garcia is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He then completed his residency training in internal medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident and hospitalist prior to joining the Division of Human Nutrition at UCLA.
