“The nurses we have here are a powerhouse,” says Scott Abcarian, a clinical nurse at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, which was awarded Magnet Designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. “The Magnet designation is for nursing excellence. The management here encourages us to continue our education to become board certified in psychiatric nursing, which many of us have done. It takes time to acquire the knowledge and expertise in order to obtain the certification and you have to have a deep understanding of the specialty. I think this is the best hospital to work for; we’ve got great nurses and the doctors and staff support us. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.”
