“The dogs always make her smile,” reveals Lisa Salgado, mother of 26-year-old Maria Salgado. Christmas carol singing People-Animal Connection volunteers visited the Salgado family at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Lisa continues, “The PAC teams made her day. Even when she’s feeling crappy, the dogs make her feel better. Maria has diverticulitis, and we come in once or twice a month, depending on how sick she is. Once she gets a little better, they’ll be able to do surgery. UCLA Health is really nice. They listen to you, and we’re so grateful. It’s wonderful to have the dogs and carolers come through. We really appreciate it.”
