“I was cycling and an intoxicated driver turned in front of us. I was pinned under the car for 10 minutes,” says Jeff, who was airlifted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. “For the first 24 hours they didn’t expect me to survive the accident. A few days later I began to realize what had happened. My face was badly damaged, it had been burnt off on one side and I lost an ear and an eye. The plastic surgeons took a large flap of skin from my leg and placed it on my face. It was a life-saving surgery. I was in the hospital for four weeks, and the doctors and nurses were unbelievably fantastic. The staff is just incredible.”
