Before the surgery I was diabetic and weighed 200 lbs. I was in need of poking myself with 50 units of insulin 4 times a day and having to take 15 different pills for all the complications I have from being unhealthy. The main reason why I decided to seek bariatric surgery is to reduce the complications I have due to my diabetes and to lose excess body weight to live a longer and fuller life with my family.
I had a great experience with all the staff. Everyone made me feel comfortable before and after surgery. The information I received was very much helpful in preparation after surgery. I found the post-operative diet easy to follow. I have not been happier with my life. After I have recovered from the surgery and was able to go back to work and to do things I was doing before, I felt more energized and was able to do things faster as I was able to walk and work faster.
As of the present time, January 1, 2017 I already lost about 70 lbs. and I no longer need any insulin shots and my medicine intake was lessened to 3 pills compared to the 15 pills I was taking before.
The surgery greatly changed my life as I was able to bond more with my teenage son as I can already walk the same phase as him and join him in traveling, but most importantly is that I made sure that I will be able to spend more years with him and my family as I am healthy as I can be. Also I am feeling good and looking good. My confidence has boosted to its highest level.
