Before I became a patient at COMET, I suffered with numerous health problems as a result of my obesity. In addition, my obesity affected my quality of life, since my size limited me from participating in physically exertive activities. Like many people, I had the flawed opinion that having bariatric surgery was “taking the easy way out!” It was a close friend of mine who also had the surgery, that finally convinced me that I needed to make a life change.
As a UCLA student, with the student health plan, the process was very fast compared to my friends experience. Since having the surgery at COMET, almost all of my health problems have been cured. I am more active, with more energy, drive and confidence. I am now mountain biking 20-30 miles a week and I commute to school on my bike. I am so thankful to Dr. Chen and the staff at COMET, because they gave me my life back!
