“I’ll be holding my lantern high and proud of everybody else there,” states Daisy Cazares, an administrative assistant in the department of medicine. Daisy is raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk.
“I’ll be holding a red supporter lantern for all of those who are going through leukemia or for those who are there in honor of somebody else. At the beginning of the walk, anyone with a white lantern; a survivor, will center together and turn on their lantern. Because it’s at night, it lights up a beam because they’re all together. I think it lets the survivors feel like they’re not alone. And then everybody else around them will turn on their lanterns, and it shows that no matter what, we’re here as a group and there is support all around them. I’m very honored to be part of this team and making a difference.”
