**JANUARY 7th, 2021:
From the CICARE Office - We would like to share a wonderful letter of gratitude that a high school student from the school's Social Club wrote to the Social Workers. [Our group] is a student run organization that strives to spread hope, love, and gratitude throughout our community with acts of kindness. The organization was created during the pandemic to help address the mental health and new life adjustment challenges that were evidently on the rise among health care workers. [Our Group] strives to show that there is hope, even during tough times. The Letter States:
My name is M. and I am currently a junior at [a High School in] CA. During my freshman year, many of my friends were struggling with mental health because they weren’t sure how to handle the stress of a new environment and felt that they were alone in this new journey called high school. Many of them came to talk to me, which I was glad that they felt comfortable enough to do; since then, I have always been a huge advocate for mental health, which is the main reason I created this club, Hearts of Hope. I wanted to create something that could help people get through hard times and find some joy and positivity despite everything they are going through. And what I have done is only a small fraction of what your daily responsibilities are! It’s so admirable that you go to work every day and selflessly put your patients above yourself to help them with whatever they are going through. So on behalf of your community, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done to help others. You are excellent role models for our society, and for that, you deserve to be appreciated. As a student who is interested in being a social worker one day, I am so honored to share my passion with such a compassionate group of professionals. Your deeds have truly been heroic, and I just want you to know that your work does not go unseen. Although I am not able to express how truly grateful I am to have you as our society’s role models, my only hope is that you understand how much people appreciate your work (even though you may not hear it all the time) and continue to serve your patients each and every day! May you have a warm (and safe) holiday season!
Sincerely, M.
It is a great honor to work alongside such a great team of Social Workers and to see such impact inside the community. Thank you to all the social workers doing their very best work during this pandemic!
