The Melvin and Bren Simon Digestive Diseases Center at UCLA provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology consultative and endoscopic services for patients with general gastroenterology (GI) disorders.
Chronic constipation, diverticular disease, ulcers, gallstones, gastroesophageal reflux disease, diarrhea and hemorrhoids account for millions of office visits each year. Incidence of foodborne illnesses and clostridium difficile diarrhea is increasing as well. The symptoms of GI disorders can be similar and may conceal the symptoms of other disorders. A definitive diagnosis is critical to achieving successful outcomes and may involve one of several endoscopic diagnostic procedures to differentiate gastrointestinal disorders.
General GI disorders are a common phenomenon. Complaints of abdominal pain or discomfort rank among the top five reasons for visits to the doctor. Our expert team takes a patient-centered, collaborative approach working with integrative GI health practitioners and internationally-renowned specialists for even the most routine conditions.
Our board certified and highly trained experts provide timely diagnosis and treatment of GI conditions, using the most advanced technologies and minimally invasive procedures. The medical procedure units and endoscopy centers are an integral part of our services where full spectrum of services are performed, including diagnostics and therapeutic endoscopy such as colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.
