Mission
The philosophy of UCLA Health Nursing is to support the role of the professional nurse while nurturing their intellect, heart, soul, and imagination. In accordance with the American Nurses Association (ANA), the organization supports the role of the professional nurse guided by the ANA Bill of Rights and the principles of the UCLA Health vision, values, and commitment to care. UCLA Health Nursing has a Relationship-Based Care Model that establishes a partnership between the nurse, patient, and family and includes values such as compassion, respect, and a commitment to patient care.

Magnet®
All three UCLA Health facilities have achieved Magnet® recognition, the nation’s highest honor for excellence in nursing.
In 2020, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center joined an elite group of hospitals, achieving Magnet® designation four times. Shortly after in 2021, UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center received their second Magnet® designation.
Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA achieved Magnet® recognition for the second time in June 2024. The hospital is one of the first independently licensed psychiatric facilities to receive a prestigious second designation, which is awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
