Pradeep Prasad, M.D., M.B.A., is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology in the Retina Division of the UCLA Stein Eye Institute and former Chief of Ophthalmology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He is a leader in the field of ophthalmology and vitreoretinal diseases. His areas of expertise include the management of diabetic retinopathy, complex retinal detachments, age-related macular degeneration, macular holes, dislocated intraocular lenses, and ocular trauma.
Dr. Prasad has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters. He has been an invited lecturer internationally, is a reviewer for numerous medical journals and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Retina Society.
Dr. Prasad earned his doctor of medicine degree at the University of California, Los Angeles where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. After completing his medical internship at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration, he completed his residency in ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Dr. Prasad later went on to obtain a Masters in Business Administration from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA with a specialization in healthcare operations and biomedical innovation.
Dr. Prasad has been recognized for his achievement as an educator and scientist. He has been the recipient of both the Stein Eye Institute fellow and faculty teaching awards. His research has been recognized and awarded locally at UCLA as well as nationally by the American Society of Retina Specialists. In addition to his practice as a retina specialist at UCLA, Dr. Prasad serves as the Stein Eye Institute Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship Program Director and is the principal investigator on numerous multi-center clinical trials.
