Army Sergeant Matthew King
About Army Sergeant Matthew King
In 2005, while on a mission in Afghanistan, SGT. King was hit in his upper left thigh by a rocket-repelled grenade. He administered self-aid, refusing to be carried out, so that each soldier could stay in the fight. The grenade blew a huge hole in his leg leaving him severely injured and scarred from his groin to his knee.
After more than 20 surgeries and years of physical therapy, King is able to walk again, manage his pain, and enjoy outdoor activities.
