Amanda M. Honsvall Hoefler, MD

Dr. Amanda Honsvall is a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician within the UCLA Departments of Family Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery. She specializes in treating athletes and active individuals of all ages with non-surgical orthopedic conditions and sports-related injuries. She is considered an expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and minimally-invasive orthopedic procedures, including ultrasound-guided joint injections (knee, hip, ankle, foot, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand) and orthobiologic injections including hyaluronic acid and platelet rich plasma (PRP). 

In addition to her UCLA Health clinical practice, Dr. Honsvall serves as team physician for the Los Angeles Chargers and assists with the care of other professional athletes including the Los Angeles Dodgers and USA Basketball. She has previously served as a team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, UCLA Athletics (Men’s Volleyball, Men’s Tennis and Rowing), University of Minnesota Women’s Basketball and Santa Monica High School. She previously served as medical director for the USA Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament.

Dr. Honsvall completed her Sports Medicine fellowship at UCLA and her Family Medicine residency at University of Minnesota Methodist Hospital. During residency, she was recognized as a National AMSSM Resident Scholar for her dedication and contributions to Sports Medicine. Dr. Honsvall earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota and her undergraduate degree from University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. She is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
