About

I am a pulmonary and critical care physician with a focus in palliative care and bioethics.

After completing a graduate degree in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania, I completed medical school, internal medicine residency, and PCCM fellowship at New York University, where I was exposed to unprecedented critical care crises including Hurricane Sandy and surges in the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, I was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. I subsequently completed a second fellowship in Palliative Care at Mount Sinai in New York City to better facilitate goal-concordant care and conduct complex goals of care discussions near the end-of-life.

I am currently an inpatient focused physician serving on the Critical Care, Pulmonary, and Palliative Care services at Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica Campuses. I also spend clinical time at Barlow Respiratory Hospital, focusing on long term ventilator weaning and palliative support for individuals with serious illnesses. My clinical focus spans the full spectrum of care for individuals with serious illness, from managing acute, reversible conditions to offering compassionate support that improves quality of life and guides complex decision-making at critical moments. I am particularly interested in complex cases involving potentially inappropriate, highly intensive treatments at the end of life, while simultaneously prioritizing the development of patient-centered care plans grounded in evidence-based medicine. I am an active member of both Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica Hospital Ethics Committees, collaborate with the ECMO Palliative Care Alliance to optimize patient-provider communication , and participate in the UCLA Health Center for Excellence in Communication. My current research interests include understanding end-of-life decision making for unrepresented patients, palliative extubations, and simulating resource allocation outcomes during crisis standards of care. This important work has led to publications, national presentations, and grant funding, including a recent CHEST Foundation grant.

I remain an active member in the American Thoracic Society, participating in the Ethics and Conflicts of Interest Committee, and the American College of Chest Physicians (Chest), participating in Disaster Response & Global Health Section as well as the Palliative and End-of-Life Section. I remain passionate about bioethics, and participate actively in the Empire State Bioethics Consortium as a Board of Director and Chair of the Nomination, Membership, and Inclusion Committee.
