Douglas L. Wilson, MD

Dr. Douglas Lee Wilson is a board-certified Family Physician practicing in Santa Barbara.  Dr. Wilson draws on years of experience in rural health and enjoys seeing patients of all ages with any type of health concern including adult medicine, pediatrics, and women’s health.

Dr. Wilson received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, where his classmates awarded him the Ellen Griep Award. He completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at Ventura County Medical Center in California. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington.

Prior to coming to UCLA Health, Dr. Wilson practiced at North Valley Hospital and Confluence Health in Tonasket, Washington. For 15 years, he practiced broad spectrum rural medicine, attending patients in office, hospital, delivery suite and nursing home. He also performed obstetrical and gynecologic procedures in the operating room and made house calls. Throughout this time, he especially enjoyed teaching medical students and residents, and was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor by the University of Washington School of Medicine. In 2019, Dr. Wilson moved to a nearby community to focus on health care leadership and administration. Following this he came to work with Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics in Goleta, California.

Today, Dr. Wilson is pleased to practice in his wife’s hometown of Santa Barbara.  When not seeing patients, he can be found hiking, cycling and playing jazz piano.  He is also an instrument-rated private pilot and conversant in Spanish.

Dr. Wilson is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and has been continuously certified by the American Board of Family Medicine since 2004.
