About
Dr. Ishan Asokan is an Academic Hospitalist practicing at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica. He is board certified in internal medicine, with clinical interest in global health, oncology, and inpatient teaching.
Dr. Asokan received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010 (magna cum laude), M.Sc. from the University of Oxford in 2012, and M.D. from Vanderbilt University in 2017. During his medical education, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS), completed the NIH Medical Research Scholars Program (MRSP) and received Vanderbilt's Dean's Award for academic, leadership, and community service contributions. He then went on to complete an internship in general surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before transitioning to a career in Internal Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he received two commendations for excellence in medical student teaching as well as the 2019 Excellence in Humanism with Residents and Fellows Teaching Award.
When he’s not in the hospital, Dr. Asokan enjoys HIIT classes, traveling the world, trying new restaurants across Los Angeles, and writing.
