Kristina M. Purganan, DO

Dr. Purganan is board-certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry.  She earned her medical degree at Western University of Health Sciences and completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Cincinnati where she served as chief resident.  She completed her geriatric psychiatry fellowship at the University of Cincinnati and an ECT fellowship at Duke University. 

Dr. Purganan has worked in a variety of clinical settings with diverse patient populations.  After training, she stayed on at the University of Cincinnati as an inpatient attending on the geriatric psychiatry unit, consult service, and ECT service.  After returning to her hometown of Seattle, she joined CHI-Franciscan Health to provide inpatient psychiatric consultations as well as develop and implement the collaborative care model for psychiatric services in their outpatient clinics.  She later moved to Salt Lake City where she was faculty at the University of Utah.  While there, she established their Outpatient Geriatric Psychiatric Clinic specializing in the care of patients with dementia and served as Medical Director.  She also spent time treating older adults at the Neurobehavioral HOME Clinic providing care to patients with neurodevelopmental disorders including autism, intellectual disabilities, genetic disorders, and brain injuries.  Dr. Purganan is now based at UCLA Health’s MPTF Toluca Lake Primary Care where she continues to provide outpatient psychiatric services.

Dr. Purganan is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.  She is an experienced and compassionate psychiatrist who is dedicated to partnering with her patients to achieve their mental health goals.
