Lien T. Hua-Feng, NP

I am a certified nurse practitioner. Since 2015, I have served as the dedicated nurse practitioner (NP) for the mesothelioma treatment program at UCLA, and I hold a similar position at the West Los Angeles Veterans' Administration Medical Center. As the program NP, I act as an intermediary between patients and physicians from various disciplines involved in the diagnosis and treatment of mesothelioma.

For new patients, I provide information about mesothelioma, available treatment options in general, and specific treatment options at UCLA, along with practical matters such as timing, travel, and insurance related to treatment at UCLA. I also assist new patients in gathering the necessary records and information to promptly schedule an appointment with the program director, thoracic surgeon Dr. Cameron.

For existing patients, I continue to serve as an intermediary with program physicians to address questions regarding treatment, scheduling, and insurance. I also aim to provide emotional support by connecting patients with others and organizing patient support group meetings, where they can share their experiences with treatments, recovery, nutrition, and other topics. Witnessing the bonds that develop between patients is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work at UCLA.
