"As a dedicated pulmonologist, I aim to help patients in our community breathe better and enjoy a good quality of life. I joined UCLA Health to provide my patients with the highest level of care by blending the academic research knowledge of UCLA with evidence-based medicine."
Dr. Merchant completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UCSF-Fresno in 2007. Following this, she worked as a private practice hospitalist in Southern California for three years. Driven by a passion for pulmonary care, she pursued a Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Throughout her fellowship, Dr. Merchant gained significant experience in managing patients with advanced lung diseases, including asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hypertension, and interstitial lung disease.
Dr. Merchant's particular focus is on asthma, a chronic condition that significantly impacts the lives of those affected. She is dedicated to improving their quality of life by employing cutting-edge research and innovative treatments to offer personalized care plans that address each patient's unique needs. Dr. Merchant's commitment to advancing pulmonary medicine is evident in her role as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is also an active member of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) and the American Thoracic Society (ATS), ensuring she stays at the forefront of advancements in the field.
