Melody C. Avakian, DO

Dr. Melody Avakian is a board-certified Family Physician working in the UCLA Health Encino office. Her practice encompasses full spectrum primary care services inclusive of all ages and populations, including children and older adults. She has interests in preventive care, management of chronic diseases, and performing in-office procedures such as joint injections and IUD and Nexplanon management. She enjoys creating strong relationships with her patients and partnering with them to promote the healthiest lifestyle possible. 

Dr. Avakian began her journey in medicine at UC Irvine as a Biological Sciences major. After graduation, she gained further experience working in pharmaceutical clinical research and serving as a clinical research coordinator. She returned to the academic route and completed a Master of Art's in Biomedical Sciences at Midwestern University in Arizona. She stayed at Midwestern University where she completed her medical training. She returned back to her home state of California to complete residency at the Riverside University Health System/UC Riverside Family Medicine program. She was awarded Intern of the Year and served as Chief Resident during her final year of training. 

Dr. Avakian grew up in Los Angeles, California. She is of Armenian descent and speaks Armenian fluently. She is also able to converse in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, listening to music, playing word puzzles, and spending time with her husband and family.
