Dr. Michal Kasperkiewicz is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Kasperkiewicz obtained his medical degree from the University of Hamburg (Germany) and completed both his dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Lubeck (Germany) where he later served as a Professor of Dermatology. Prior to joining faculty at UCLA, Dr. Kasperkiewicz worked as Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
While Dr. Kasperiewicz is seeing patients with a variety of different skin diseases, his clinical expertise and research focus are autoimmune blistering skin diseases including the diagnosis and treatment of pemphigus and pemphigoid. Dr. Kasperkiewicz has conducted several clinical, epidemiological, and experimental studies on pemphigus/pemphigoid, partly together with the International Pemphigus and Pemphigoid Foundation. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications in high-ranking journals such as the Lancet. He has been the globally most cited author on pemphigus since 2011.
