Nima Milani-Nejad, MD, PhD

Dr. Nima Milani-Nejad is a board-certified dermatologist at UCLA Health Thousand Oaks. Dr. Milani-Nejad’s expertise encompasses a variety of conditions including skin malignancies, inflammatory skin conditions, and other dermatological conditions.

Dr. Milani-Nejad was born in Iran and immigrated to the United States at age of 15. He received his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. He subsequently accepted a position in the MD/PhD program at The Ohio State University. During his PhD research years Dr. Milani-Nejad developed a new technique for studying and understanding contraction of the human heart.  The results of his research advanced understanding of the mechanisms that regulate contraction of the heart in both healthy conditions and heart failure. This research work was awarded the prestigious fellowship grant by the American Heart Association. He was also awarded multiple honors and recognitions including Medical Scientist of the Year by The Ohio State University.

Following completion of his PhD thesis Dr. Milani-Nejad’s interest was focused in the field of dermatology. He completed his dermatology residency where he also served as the chief resident at The Ohio State University. He also continued to perform clinical research in dermatology. To date he has published more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Following completion of his training Dr. Milani-Nejad returned to southern California where his family resides and took a position at UCLA Health. He enjoys hiking, spending time with family and friends, photography, and cooking.
