About
Dr. Rajakumar is trained in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Originally from Lancaster, California, he attended UC San Diego, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and master’s degree in Biology. He then took his talents to South Beach, and received his medical degree at the University of Miami. He completed his medical training at Rush University in Chicago, before returning to LA to practice medical care for both adults and kids.
Dr. Rajakumar prides himself in his abilities as both a listener and a teacher for his patients, as well as using the latest research to guide his practice. He also focuses on using the right tool for the job, and that tool isn't always another pill or full body scans:
- In this era of antibiotic resistance and medication addiction, not every runny nose needs a Z-pack, and not every sleepless night needs a sleeping pill!
- Xanax is a DEA-controlled medication to be used sparingly and in very specific circumstances, NOT for daily use.
- Adderall is a DEA-controlled medication for people with a neurodevelopmental condition that prevents them from focusing and interferes with their daliy life (how many saucepans have you thrown away because you started cooking, got distracted, and then left the saucepan on the burner for hours?), not for people who are intermittently absent-minded.
- “I think showing perfectly healthy people every harmless imperfection in their body just to scare them into taking invasive and often pointless tests is an unholy sin.” – Dr. Cox on full body scans. And I agree.
In his free time, he likes to play basketball, grill delicious food, and walk/bike/Metro through different neighborhoods of the city.
