About
Dr. Allison Mayer-Oakes is board certified in Internal Medicine and practices primary care in Montecito.
Dr. Mayer-Oakes has always practiced medicine believing in the whole person; body, mind and spirit. After doing Health Policy work for over 10 years, she discovered that she has a passion for clinical medicine. She enjoys connecting with her patients one on one, and helping them to achieve their optimal health. She has been an advocate for and expert in women’s hormonal health.
She started her career on the full time research faculty at The UCLA School of Medicine and her research and clinical interest was and continues to be successful aging and preventive health.
Dr. Mayer-Oakes went to Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed her residency at UC Irvine and fellowship in Geriatrics at UCLA. She also completed a UCLA Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar Fellowship and completed her Master’s Degree in Public Health from UCLA.
Dr. Mayer-Oakes has spent the last 7 years working at the Eastside Neighborhood Clinic in Santa Barbara. Prior to that she had her own private Internal Medicine practice in Santa Barbara.
Dr. Mayer-Oakes had a multi-cultural upbringing growing up in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Her father was an internationally known archaeologist and she helped him study and search for stone tools from early man in these three countries. Her multi-cultural awareness has enhanced her understanding of her patient’s lives and their health.
When not working, she enjoys hiking, kickboxing and spending time with her 3 children and husband.
