Soh Youn Suh, MD, MS
- Pediatric Ophthalmology
About
Dr. Soh Youn Suh is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Stein Eye Institute, David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Suh specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.
Dr. Suh completed her medical school training at the Ewha Womans University, South Korea in 2006, followed by subsequent ophthalmology residency training at Ewha Womans University Medical Center. After finishing residency in 2011, Dr. Suh had a fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology at Seoul National University hospital, South Korea. In 2013, Dr. Suh undertook an additional fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA and in 2014, Dr. Suh subsequently joined the ocular motility laboratory as a postdoctoral research fellow to work with Dr. Joseph L. Demer at the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. In 2018, Dr. Suh joined the faculty of the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.
Dr. Suh's research interests include evaluating extraocular muscle volume/ contractility and pulley positions in several types of strabismus by analyzing high resolution orbital magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images. Currently, the primary focus of her research is to evaluate strain on the optic nerve head and globe displacement during horizontal ductions in patients and normal controls using MRI and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Dr. Suh has published multiple articles in world's leading academic journals.
