The Pediatric Brain Tumor Program at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital is a multi-disciplinary comprehensive program focused on improving the cure and the quality of cure in infants, children and young adults with primary brain and spinal cord tumors. Every patient is delivered indivualized therapy based on input from pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric oncology, radiation oncology, neuroradiology, stem cell transplant, neurology and neuropathology. Each child receives family-centered care that focuses on the needs of the patient and family as a whole.

Our team is supported by excellent professionals in psychology, social work, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology and school rehabilitation. Our team approach begins at initial diagnosis and helps support our patients and families through treatment and recovery.

Through laboratory and clinical research, our goal is to develop innovative clinical treatments for children with brain and spine tumors that result in improved survival with less long-term toxicity and better quality of life.

Research

Our program offers access to a variety of clinical trials in which our patients can receive the most novel of pediatric brain tumor treatments. Through our participation in research cooperative groups (Children's Oncology Group (COG), Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC) & Head Start Program), industry sponsored trial as well as with our own investigator initiated clinical trials, we are committed to finding better therapies, better cures and better tomorrows for our patients.
