Scientific Interests

Dr. Edward Garon's research focuses on developing novel therapies for cancers of the chest (most frequently lung cancer). He performs clinical trials to evaluate these therapies and then works to evaluate which patients benefit from these therapies.

The ultimate goal of Garon's work is to determine subgroups of lung cancer patients most likely to respond to certain therapies and then translate those observations into rational clinical trials. These trials look at both therapies targeting specific abnormalities in the tumor, as well as therapies that induce the immune system to attack the tumor. Garon has led international trials that led to the approval of two drugs and a diagnostic test.
