Scientific Interests
Dr. Gao's research focuses on Environmental Health Data Science, which includes developing novel computational methodologies to predict cancers leveraging multi-omics data and understanding the associations between environmental exposures and cancers. His research includes survival analysis, epidemiology, and bioinformatics. Dr. Gao has developed both unsupervised models to identify different cancer types based on DNA methylation data and multi-modal models to predict cancer. With the help of computational modeling, his research aims to facilitate early cancer detection, assist health interventions, and eventually improve human health.
