Dr. Jennifer Long's research goal is to design better short- and long-term treatments for head and neck diseases. Currently, the long-lasting sequelae of head and neck cancer resection or radiation can severely impact patients' quality of life, even after successful cancer treatment. Innovative treatments and rehabilitation modalities are needed to improve both the cure rate and the quality of life outcomes for these patients. Regenerative medicine techniques that manipulate cells and extracellular matrix at the local site of disease in the head and neck are a promising approach to improve outcomes.
