Choroidal melanoma metastasis is central to Dr. Tara McCannel's research focus. She believes that investigating molecular and cytogenetic tumor markers predictive of metastasis, determining screening modalities for metastasis using combined positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and surveying ocular status of patients in immunotherapy trials for cutaneous melanoma metastasis are important to shift the emphasis of this cancer from a local to a systemic condition.
