APSF 2023 Stoelting Conference
November 1, 2023 | Maxime Cannesson, MD, PhD
The annual APSF Stoelting Conference was held in Las Vegas from September 6-7, 2023. The focus for this year was “Emerging Medical Technologies – A Patient Safety Perspective on Wearables, Big Data and Remote Care.” The goal of the 2023 Stoelting Conference was to examine critically a group of emerging technologies from the perspective of patient safety. The agenda covered a wide spectrum of topics, from the wearable technologies designed to monitor patients wirelessly in different care settings, to big data tools like artificial intelligence (AI) required to turn data into information, and finally to clinical decision-making from locations remote from the patient's bedside. The conference explored the topics of emerging technologies and their impact on value, providers' well-being, and health care equity. The UCLA Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine was well represented, with Dr. Dan Cole being the President of APSF, Dr. Maxime Cannesson being one of the planning committee co-chairs, and Drs. Cecilia Canales and Emily Methangkool being speakers.
