Belle Benanzea-Fontem, MD Selected as SCA DEI Junior Resident Scholar

Belle Benanzea-Fontem, MD, CA-1 Resident Physician, was awarded the 2023 Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Junior Resident Scholar Grant by the Society for Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA)!

With this recognition, Dr. Benanzea-Fontem will attend the upcoming SCA Annual Meeting in Portland, OR on May 6-9, 2023 to present her research along with our cardiothoracic anesthesiology faculty. Her case report will analyze "a patient placed on VV ECMO for acute hypoxic respiratory failure iso of possible abdominal compartment syndrome vs pulmonary contusions." She is mentored by Tiffany Williams, MD, PhD, and Marisa Hernandez-Morgan, MD, MPP, MA.
