Catherine Cha, MD, Appointed Interim Chief, Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology

Catherine Cha, MD, Clinical Associate Professor, has been appointed to serve as Interim Chief, Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology of the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Cha joined DAPM in 2008 for her residency training and completed an Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles before joining our Faculty in 2013. She was appointed Medical Director of the Obstetric Anesthesiology division at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center in 2017, and has since overseen the clinical operations of the service. In 2018, Dr. Cha received the second-place Gertie Max Research Competition Award from the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology Conference for her work on comparing bupivacaine-induced cardiotoxicity and intralipid rescue in non-pregnant and late pregnant rats. An accomplished clinician, Dr. Cha has lectured locally and nationally on topics related to Obstetric Anesthesia and Maternal Health. She is a member of multiple professional societies, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the California Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology.
As the newly appointed Interim Chief, Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology, Dr. Cha will build on the tradition of excellence in clinical care and work on fostering the academic environment of the division.
