DAPM at LA Pride Parade and Dodgers Pride Night
July 11, 2023 | Jordan Francke, MD, MPH, and Mansi Sheth, MD
Since the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, June of every year has become recognized as Pride Month, a time to celebrate and commemorate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) pride. On Sunday, June 12, 2023, a handful of nurses from the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), along with CA-3 resident physicians Jordan Francke, MD, MPH, and Matthew Lum, MD, and DAPM faculty anesthesiologist Neil Shaw, MD, attended the annual LA Pride Parade to participate on UCLA Health's float and represent our department.
DAPM also had a great turnout for Pride Night at Dodger Stadium on June 16. A diverse mix of professional staff and resident and attending physicians attended the baseball game to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community and root for the Dodgers. The Dodger dogs were delicious, the sunset picturesque, and the baseball entertaining. Despite the loss in extra innings, the game was still a win for DAPM and a great way to spend a Friday evening!
