Jack Buckley, MD: Intra-Operative Management of External Ventriculostomy Drains

Dr. Jack Buckley, a member of the Education committee for , was interviewed for the SNACC Fellows' and Residents' podcast on the "Intra-Operative Management of External Ventriculostomy Drains." The 20-minute talk goes through the indications for ventriculostomies and common management steps. According to Buckley, there are numerous well documented complications related to mismanagement, but ventriculostomies are fairly simple once you understand how to manage the devices. Since external ventriculostomy drains (EVD) are common in neuroanesthesia, Dr. Buckley discusses the basics of EVD management to minimize the risks of complications and ensure EVDs are used properly to optimize patient outcomes.
