Dear colleagues and UCLA community,

The faculty, residents and staff at the UCLA Division of Dermatology write to condemn the recent violence and hate expressed against the Asian-American members of our community. These have at times even resulted in the deaths of our elderly and most vulnerable. We are disgusted and horrified by the further mistreatment of the marginalized.

We stand in solidarity with our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. As such, we fiercely advocate for the preservation of the dignity and lives of our Asian American community members. As well, we acknowledge the oppression and mistreatment of other minorities especially Black communities. Our division strives to provide equal access and protections to all of our patients regardless of their gender, race, ethnic background and beliefs. We welcome the issuance of an executive order condemning racism against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. We urge those who experience or witness such instances of hate, discrimination and violence to speak up.

Listed below are some of the resources available within and outside of UCLA:
• For incidents of discrimination that occur within the UCLA Hospital and Clinic System, please use SOFI Event Reporting: http://sofi.ucla.edu/

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee
