Inclusive Excellence
The UCLA-VA Geriatrics Fellowship is strongly committed to fostering inclusivity, encouraging community engagement and advocacy, reducing healthcare disparities, and promoting awareness within our division. We believe that our program serves as an example for open dialogue, life-long learning, and compassionate quality care. We work with our colleagues in the UCLA Health System, including the Department of Medicine and the Graduate Medical Education office on these efforts. Check out highlights from our
and the .We utilize a holistic review process when evaluating candidacy for our fellowship and we look for fellows who desire to improve health outcomes for older adults across diverse settings. Our curriculum includes a lecture series on caring for patients from a broad variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Fellows also rotate on clinical services dedicated to providing care to underserved and marginalized patients. These clinical sites include Harbor-UCLA, our county affiliate, the Los Angeles Jewish Home Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), and the West Los Angeles VA hospital.
