Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP)
Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP)
KDSAP is a national student lead organization working to combat Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) through student career development and community outreach. KDSAP was created by Li-Li Hsiao MD PhD in March 2008 and the first college chapter was established at Harvard shortly after. Since then, the organization has established chapters across the country, including UCLA KDSAP which was founded in 2022.
KDSAP works to raise public awareness of CKD and promote early detection by providing free kidney screenings to underserved populations. KDSAP also provides undergraduate students with career development opportunities through relationships with local nephrologists, workshops, and trainings to help address the current shortage of nephrology specialists.
