On the Forefront of Value-Based Care Delivery
The UCLA Department of Neurosurgery is pioneering numerous safety and quality initiatives that are driving down mortality rates, length of stay and readmissions, while reducing costs and simultaneously improving patient satisfaction at UCLA.

Committed to Driving Down Mortality Rates
We've reduced risk-adjusted mortality rates from the 84th percentile to the 18th percentile. The UCLA Comprehensive Spine Center ranked third in the country in risk-adjusted mortality.

Reduced Length of Stay by 1.65 Days
For the past five years, UCLA Neurosurgery has reduced length of stay by 1.65 days, from 8.23 days to 6.58 days for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures.

Reconnecting Patients to Life - Visionary Ball 2014 - Taking place next Thursday, October 30th, the Visionary Ball raises critical funds and awareness in support of our patients who face the most complex neurological disorders of this era. L.A. Marathon Runner Reunites with Rescuers - Standing tall and handsome and looking the picture of good health, it's hard to believe that Joe Lebeda was near death just over a month ago. That stark difference could be attested to by the firefighters, paramedics, doctors and nurses who reunited with him to celebrate his remarkable recovery after his heart stopped during the 2014 Los Angeles Marathon.
