The UCLA Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program Concussion Champions Course is an accredited course designed to develop a comprehensive and multidisciplinary health care workforce to serve the Greater Los Angeles community. California state laws (AB2127 and AB2007) require anyone 18 years or younger suspected of sustaining a concussion to be evaluated by a healthcare provider trained in concussion management. This course provides hands-on, interactive training that enables health care providers to implement evidence-based concussion diagnostic and treatment practices.
Concussion management is a quickly evolving field with many advancements in the past decade with new discoveries made each year. Come join our multidisciplinary team of concussion experts to learn more about the burgeoning field of concussion and its innovative advancements.
The Concussion Champions Course is a half-day program. Participants will walk away with the tools they need to provide the highest level of concussion care. Topics include:
- Concussion Epidemiology, Risk and Time Course
- Clinical Concussion Assessment
- Neurocognitive Testing
- Return to School, Return to Play, and Retirement Decisions
- Current Research and Media Coverage of Youth Concussions
- Case Review and Q&A
Continued Education units are offered for a variety of providers including: MD/DO, Clinical Psychologists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, ATCs.
