Our Mission
The mission of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA is to implement the four pillars of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA; clinical service, research, education and community service. The Department seeks to excel in all areas of women’s health. This includes the delivery of state-of-the art health care to women of all ages based on best available practices, research devoted to advancing women’s health through basic, translational and clinical exploration, and a commitment to training the next generation of providers and researchers devoted to improving women’s health.

Training Programs
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA has at the core of its mission a commitment to educate and train the next generation of leading physicians and scientists. Our renowned medical student, residency and fellowship programs offer excellent training through a rich curriculum of clinical experience, didactic material, research and investigative pursuits to create world leaders in women’s health.
Our Community
Our faculty and trainees are involved in clinical service to the community, most prominently through our West Medical Clinic. Additionally, our faculty is actively involved in national and international societies that support the academic mission of women’s health. Finally, we have an ongoing commitment in the area of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion that includes dedicated department support led by Lisa Nicholas, MD, Vice Chair of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
